Did you know? Globally, an average of eight million tons of plastic escapes collection systems, winding up in the environment and eventually the ocean, and that recent studies estimate that by the year 2050 there will be more plastic—by weight—than fish in the ocean! With at least 80 percent of ocean plastic coming from land-based sources, Calgarians and other land-locked citizens are not excluded from contributing to both the problem and the solution.

Plastic-Free YYC is excited to be part of the solution!

Calgary's Leading Voice in Zero Waste and Plastic Free Living

Plastic-Free YYC is a nonprofit organisation leading Calgarians to reduce single-use plastic waste and create a circular economy.

Our three-tiered approach of engagement -- inspiring individuals, collaborating with businesses, and working with municipal leaders -- is how change will happen. Our fully volunteer-run team is comprised of plastic-free and zero-waste experts who are passionate about raising awareness of the overall impact of plastic on our community and our planet.

How We Do It!

Our mission is to engage individuals, businesses and government, all to make positive, plastic-free changes in their worlds!

We have targeted initiatives that engage all sectors of our community, create a collective voice for Calgarians and help us gather intel to use in our mission to promote a plastic-free city!
